Dear Love: This is how we fall in love.
We could all relate falling in love to the butterflies, heart-racing, fireworks and being dreamy. Falling in love is everything nice and sweet- as portrayed in movies, story books, and fairy tales; the thing all little girls believe to be true and make finding a prince charming one of their life goals.
However, it won't be long until they figure out that there are no fairy tales, no happy endings and there will be no gorgeous men in white horses galloping into our lives.
Falling in love in the real world is the daily bickering and conflicts that make you feel like you can't go on anymore. It is the fact that you hate yourself for being so dependent but you can't help it. It is the jealousy that overtakes you at times but you know it has to stop. It is the pain of missing the other person but knowing very well you can't be together at this very moment. It is the doubt and fear. It is all the messy and unfiltered things that no poet will write about, nobody will share on social media and no producer will produce. But this is how we fall in love in the real world.
Despite all these, at the end of the day, you'll find yourself missing this person. You'll find yourself smiling at the mere thought of them, giddy at counting down the days to your next meet. It is the decision to stay by their side no matter what life may give you.
Falling in love won't be easy. In fact falling in love in the real world is a mess; a beautiful mess at that. A mess that needs to be tidied and organized. It has to be nurtured and put effort into. The perfect relationship doesn't happen overnight. It is not about finding the perfect person. It is about accepting the flaws of someone you love because you should fall in love with the heart and not the other qualities that come with them. It may be loving the most imperfect person on earth and not giving up on them. Instead, constantly trying to bring out the best in them and be there for them.
Falling in love in the real world is a struggle and it is not always beautiful. Like a garden, it will not be beautiful if it is not properly maintained and weeds are left to grow. It is a struggle to constantly pluck weeds and ensure that the flowers are not being eaten away but when all is done and when is well kept, it will be the most beautiful thing you have ever encountered.
